They were so very young
Their lives had just begun.
Their hopes and dreams killed
In moments their blood spilled.
The ones who lived through hell
Might never date to tell.
Images still playing
Crying, screaming, praying.

Hope held for family and friends
Would they see them again?
Breaking down they embrace
Some gone without a trace.
Anxious parents await
Their son’s or daughter’s fate.
Desperately they cope
As darkness dashes hope.

And now we say good-bye
To thirteen who have died.
Their lives held such promise
They will truly be missed
In the park stands a shrine
Marking moments in time.
When heroes died for friends
And martyrs spoke for Him

In faith we’ll struggle on
In tribute to those gone.
They didn’t die in vain
Our hope is Jesus’ name.
And now they’re not alone
He came to take them Home.
Encircling them in love
He carried them above.
